A Trip to Singapore & Malaysia (Part I)

SINGAPORE

With full of excitement, we started our most awaited trip from Kuwait International Airport to Singapore Changi Airport.

DAY 1

After reaching Singapore Airport at 3 PM, checked in to Marina Mandarin hotel located at the heart of Singapore and a walking distance from Singapore’s major attractions. In the evening, went to Suntec City-Singapore shopping complex. It dazzles with a mix of retail stores comprising of high street fashion, lifestyle, skincare and beauty products.

There, we visited the Fountain of Wealth which is listed in Guinness Book of Records in 1998 as the largest fountain in the world. Visitors are invited to walk around the fountain for good luck. At night, the fountain is the setting for laser performances, as well as live song and laser message dedications. As it was Chinese New Year, at night we had a chance to watch the celebrations and spectacular fireworks.                                         

DAY 2

We started off early to reach the Singapore Flyer which gives a moving experience at every turn. The flyer consists of twenty-eight fully air-conditioned glass capsules, each able to accommodate 28 passengers. It’s a 30 minute thrilling journey which gives a feast to our eyes on iconic and historical landmarks and views like floating stadium, Singapore River, Raffles Place, Merlion Park.

From there we boarded a Duck Tour (Amphibious Tour) to experience Singapore from land and water. It’s a 60 minute trip which was accompanied by a friendly professional tour guide. We saw Merlion, Formula One race track, Gardens by the Bay, Floating Stadium, Esplanade, Flyer, Singapore River-Kallang River etc. from water and Chopstick Tower, Old Supreme Court, Clock Tower, Ancient Civilization Museum etc. from land.

Then we got on to Hop-on Hop-off City Tour for visiting various places of Singapore city.

Visited Merlion Park to see the world famous Merlion with the head of a lion and the body of a fish and spouting water from its mouth.

DAY 3

Next day we were very excited as the plan was to visit Sentosa, one of the best island resorts in the world. Before heading off to Sentosa went to St Andrew’s Cathedral.

After moving to Resorts World Sentosa – Festive Hotel, we started with Underwater World which was on the other side of the island and used cable car to reach Siloso Point Station.

In Underwater World, saw an exciting Dolphin show, peacocks and aquarium with a variety of fishes, crabs, tortoise, a Japanese Giant Spider Crab, starfish etc.

Then went to Universal Studios. There are a total of 7 zones and different rides, shows and attractions based on blockbuster movies or television shows.

We ended our day with a show called Wings of Time which is set in the open sea with laser lights, fountains and music. By Monorail, we were back to our hotel.

DAY 4

Next day we set off to Jurong Bird Park where we saw a Bird Show featuring eagles, vultures and owls and Penguin show. We also went to pools amphitheatre where we were amused by a singing parrot, swans and different kind of other birds. World’s largest man-made waterfall can be seen there.

Then headed off to Singapore Botanic Gardens and we saw a variety of flowers. Orchids being the national flower of Singapore saw a variety of them in Orchid Garden. We also had a visit to Ginger Garden and Healing Garden as well.

Next was the Night Safari, where we saw Creatures of the Night Show which showcases the natural abilities of the nocturnal animals. We also went on a tram journey with a guide to see the animals in no cage concept zoo, where the wild animals are set free in an open area.

DAY 5

Started the day with Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom where we saw over 1000 species of butterflies and insects.

S.E.A. aquarium was our next destination, which was spread over a large area. We were amused by the wide variety of fishes over there.

After 5 days of excitement, packed up and headed off to Malaysia by bus.
